ELASIA 2026 India - Shaanxi Huadian Blossoms With Artistic Splendor

The 2026 India International Power Electronics Exhibition (ELASIA 2026) will be held from May 14 to 17, 2026, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru, the technological capital of southern India. Co-organized by Triune Exhibitors Pvt. Ltd., a renowned Indian exhibition organizer, and the Electrical Consultants Association (ELCA) of India, the biennial event has been successfully held for ten editions. It is one of the most influential professional exhibitions in India's electrical sector. After more than two decades of development, ELASIA has evolved from a mere product showcase into a core platform connecting India's vast local procurement network with international suppliers. The scale and influence of the exhibition are evident from past editions: over 770 exhibitors, 50,000 professional visitors, and 50,000 square meters of exhibition space have together created a premier event for exchange and cooperation in the power electronics industry across South Asia. Shaanxi Huadian Electric Co., Ltd. was honored to participate in this exhibition, where it shone brilliantly and achieved remarkable results.

Profound Market Background

Bengaluru, the host city of the exhibition, is renowned as the "Silicon Valley of India." It is home to the headquarters of over 1,500 IT and high-tech companies and serves as a key manufacturing hub and research center in southern India. The presence of numerous industrial parks, technology incubators, and universities has created a highly concentrated demand in the region for high-tech equipment such as electrical products, energy-saving systems, and intelligent control devices. The data supports this: South India (including Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad), driven by the boom in IT and commercial real estate, shows strong demand for lighting products such as panel lights and downlights. For instance, the state of Karnataka (where Bengaluru is located) approved a plan in August 2024 with a budget of 684 million rupees to upgrade approximately 300,000 streetlights in Bengaluru to LEDs. Naturally, the ELASIA exhibition held here carries the mission of extending its reach from traditional electrical manufacturing into intelligent manufacturing, green energy, and the construction of future cities.

1. Dual Enhancement of Power Generation Capacity and Energy Efficiency

As of June 2025, India's total installed power generation capacity has reached 476 GW, with non-fossil fuel energy accounting for 49% (approximately 235.7 GW), including 110.9 GW of solar power and 51.3 GW of wind power. India has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030. In terms of energy efficiency, thanks to grid upgrades and the promotion of smart metering, power transmission and distribution losses have been significantly reduced from approximately 23% in the 2014–15 fiscal year to about 17% in the 2023–24 fiscal year. Annual per capita electricity consumption has also grown from 957 kWh a decade ago to 1,395 kWh, an increase of 45.8%.

2. Ambitious Expansion of the Transmission and Distribution Network

To support the enormous demand for clean energy integration, India is expanding its national power grid at an unprecedented pace. According to data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), as of January 2025, India's transmission network totaled 491,881 circuit kilometers (ckm), with plans to further expand to 648,000 ckm by 2032. In the 2025 fiscal year alone, the Ministry of Power added 6,511 ckm of transmission lines and increased substation capacity by 100,000 MVA. The entire power transmission and distribution EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.34%, reaching a market size of over USD 35.2 billion by 2035.

3. Terminal Intelligence and Energy Efficiency Revolution

At the terminal application level, India's energy efficiency revolution is equally remarkable. The UJALA scheme, led by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), had distributed a cumulative total of 368.7 million LED bulbs as of January 2025. In terms of smart metering, as a key component of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), India had installed 47.6 million smart meters as of November 2025, with the government approving the deployment of 203.3 million meters, creating substantial localized EPC opportunities for related enterprises.

4. New Trends in India-China Economic Ties: Real Demand Driven by Equipment Gaps

According to recent media reports (February 2026), as domestic power projects in India face equipment supply shortages and project delays, the Indian government has begun relaxing restrictions on the procurement of Chinese power equipment. To safeguard the progress of national power projects, India now allows state-owned enterprises to procure transmission equipment such as transformers from China without requiring government approval. According to Indian officials, there will be a supply gap of approximately 40% for key equipment such as transformers and reactors in India's transmission projects over the next three years. This policy shift further underscores the urgency of the supply–demand gap in India's power market and provides a more open access environment for international suppliers.
