Sulphur hexafluoride gas is widely used in high-voltage electrical equipment because of its high dielectric strength and good thermal stability. Sulphur hexafluoride gas is chemically very stable. Pure Sulphur Hexafluoride gas is non-toxic, but some low fluoride containing sulphur will be produced due to strong arc discharge when high current is turned on and off. These substances have strong reactivity, and will further react with electrode materials and water when water and oxygen are available, thus decomposing and producing toxic or highly toxic gases. These toxic gases mainly damage the human respiratory system, and after poisoning, adverse reactions similar to colds, skin allergies, nausea and vomiting, fatigue and other adverse reactions will occur, and when the inhalation dose is large, more serious consequences will occur.
Therefore, the following protective measures should be taken when overhauling and testing the sulfur hexafluoride equipment:
(1) The work site should be strongly ventilated and the overhaulers should be in the upwind position;
(2) Wear a good gas mask and protective gloves;
(3) Recover the discharged gas, or use a conduit to discharge the gas into the lower gutter, and should not be discharged directly to the atmosphere;
(4) Face, neck, arms and hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and plenty of water before work breaks or after work is finished;
(5) If inadvertently exposed to a large dose of gas, wash immediately, change clothes and go to hospital for observation and treatment in time.
What are the national norms for the prevention of sulfur hexafluoride gas poisoning?
Institutions at all levels should set up special posts in the security department for the safety protection of sulfur hexafluoride and be responsible for the work related to the safety protection of sulfur hexafluoride gas. The operation, maintenance and testing departments should have full-time staff responsible for safety protection. Sulphur hexafluoride safety protection should be included in the scope of chemical technology supervision. All kinds of safety monitoring instruments should be calibrated regularly and be in good condition at any time. Nutritional health care subsidies should be given to equipment operation, maintenance and gas test personnel. Staff engaged in testing, operation, overhaul and supervision of the relevant sulfur hexafluoride gas should have physical examination 1~2 times a year, and the physical examination items should have special requirements (e.g., respiratory system, skin, bone density, etc.), and health records should be established.
SF6 circuit breaker, is the use of SF6 gas as to arc and insulation medium circuit breaker. It is the same with the air circuit breaker belongs to the gas blowing circuit breaker, the difference is: ① lower working air pressure; ② in the process of blowing the arc, the gas is not discharged to the atmosphere, but in the closed system recycling.
