How to understand the drawer module of low-voltage withdrawable switchgear?

Drawer module is a key parameter for standardizing drawer size and installation in low-voltage withdrawable switchgear (such as GCK, GCS, MNS). It determines the drawer height, interchangeability and flexibility of the cabinet layout. The following is a detailed explanation:

1. Definition of drawer module

Basic concept:
Module is the base unit of drawer height in switch cabinet, usually in millimeters (mm) (such as 8E=200mm).
By combining multiples of modules, drawer units of different heights can be flexibly configured to achieve efficient use of cabinet space.

Core role:

Standardized design: ensure uniform drawer size for easy production, installation and maintenance.

Interchangeability: Drawers with the same module are interchangeable to reduce the number of spare parts.

Expandability: By superimposing modules, the number of circuits in the cabinet can be easily adjusted.

2. Common drawer module standards

The module definitions of different switch cabinet series are slightly different:

Switchgear type Modular basis Typical drawer height Application characteristics
GCK 1unit=160mm 1/2unit(80mm),1unit(160mm)etc. Fixed size, less flexibility.
GCS 1unit=160mm或200mm 1unit(160mm),1.5unit(240mm)etc. Supports some extensions and has good compatibility.
MNS 1E=25mm(International Standards) 8E(200mm),16E(400mm),24E(600mm) Highly modular and most universal in the world.

Example:
MNS 8E drawer:8E=8×25mm=200mm,a standard circuit breaker unit can be installed.

GCS 200mm drawer: may correspond to 1.25 module units (if the module base is 160mm).

3. Practical application of drawer modules

Space allocation:
The total height of the cabinet is designed according to the module (such as MNS cabinet height = 72E = 1800mm), and multiple drawers can be installed (such as 8E×9 layers).

Functional adaptation:

Small current loop: use 8E (200mm) drawers.

High current or complex control: combine multiple modules (such as 16E or 24E).

Mixed design:
Drawers of different modules can be mixed and installed in the same cabinet (such as MNS supports 8E+16E combination).

4. Selection considerations

Compatibility:

The drawer module of the same cabinet must match the cabinet frame (e.g., the C-type frame of MNS supports 25mm module).

The module of GCK/GCS is usually not compatible with MNS.

Expansion requirements:

Reserve module space (such as empty space) for future expansion.

International projects:

Prefer MNS (25mm module), which complies with IEC standards and is universally used.

5.Conclusion

The drawer module is essentially the "Lego building block rule" of the switch cabinet, which enables flexible assembly through standardized dimensions. After understanding the module, you can design the cabinet layout, select drawers, and improve the maintainability of the system more efficiently.
