GCK, GCS and MNS are three common low-voltage withdrawable switchgears, which differ in structure, function, application scenarios, etc. The following is a detailed comparison of them:
GCK |
GCS |
MNS |
1. GCK low-voltage withdrawable switchgear
Origin: An early product independently developed by China, in line with national standards (GB7251.1).
Structural features:
Cabinet: adopts assembled structure, and the main frame is 8MF open steel.
Functional unit: divided into busbar area, functional unit area (drawer layer height 160mm), cable area, and drawers are divided into four specifications: 1/2 unit, 1 unit, 2 units, and 3 units.
Withdrawal mechanism: The drawer adopts a rotary operating mechanism with simple mechanical interlocking.
Technical parameters:
Rated current: horizontal busbar ≤4000A, vertical busbar ≤1000A.
Short-circuit tolerance: usually low (such as below 50kA).
Application scenario: suitable for small and medium-sized power distribution systems, such as power distribution and control of factories and buildings.
Advantages: low cost, simple structure, and easy maintenance.
Disadvantages: poor drawer interchangeability and insufficient expansion flexibility.
2. GCS low-voltage withdrawable switchgear
Origin: China designed in the 1990s (JB/T9661 standard), an improved version for GCK.
Structural features:
Cabinet: The frame is assembled with C-shaped profiles, and the cabinet depth is shallower (commonly used 600mm).
Functional unit: The drawer layer height is divided into 160mm and 200mm, and there are more unit circuits (up to 22 drawers).
Withdrawable mechanism: The drawer adopts a push-type structure, the mechanical interlock is more reliable, and supports "one unit one isolation".
Technical parameters:
Rated current: horizontal bus ≤4000A, vertical bus ≤800A.
Short-circuit tolerance: relatively high (up to 80kA).
Application scenarios: petrochemical, power system and other occasions requiring high reliability.
Advantages:
The drawer has good interchangeability and supports hot plugging.
High breaking capacity and strong safety.
Disadvantages: The cost is higher than GCK, and there are certain requirements for installation space.
3. MNS low-voltage withdrawable switchgear
Origin: Designed by ABB, Switzerland (based on IEC60439 standard), international general model.
Structural features:
Cabinet: Modular design, the frame is a C-type skeleton with a 25mm module, which can be flexibly expanded.
Functional unit: The drawer layer height is divided into three types: 8E (200mm), 16E (400mm), and 24E (600mm), with strong compatibility.
Withdrawable mechanism: The drawer adopts a lever push mechanism, with precise interlocking, and supports mixed installation of "withdrawable" and "fixed".
Technical parameters:
Rated current: horizontal busbar ≤6300A, vertical busbar ≤2000A.
Short-circuit tolerance: highest (up to 100kA or more).
Application scenarios: high-demand fields such as large data centers, rail transit, and high-end manufacturing.
Advantages:
High degree of modularization and strong scalability.
International standards, good versatility, and top reliability.
Disadvantages: Highest cost and requires high technical skills of maintenance personnel.
Comparison summary

| Design standards | Chinese standard (GB) | Chinese standard (JB) | International standard (IEC) |
| Structural flexibility | Low | Medium | High (modular) |
| Rated current | ≤4000A | ≤4000A | ≤6300A |
| Drawer interchangeability | Poor | Good | Excellent |
| Cost | Low | Medium | High |
| Applicable scenarios | Small and medium-sized power distribution | Mid- to high-end industries | High-end/international projects |
Selection recommendations
Limited budget, simple power distribution: choose GCK.
High reliability industrial scenario: choose GCS.
Large project or international standard: choose MNS.
